A long stressful midterm needs a quick relaxing trip. That's what I always have in mind. I love to travel even in just a limited time. It's one way to fight stress.
Midterm exams were all done and all I wanted is a short out-of-town trip that would relieve me from stress. I asked my girlfriend for places she would want to go to but she had no idea. Then I saw this article on the internet-Burot Beach. It doesn't sound good but still seems to be interesting-I've heard it before but have no idea of it. I searched more articles and photos about it until I found myself craving to visit it. But wait, what?! Going to a beach on a rainy season? C'mon! That's what I love, adventure!
After a night of reading articles about it,I finally decided to pack my things up and take a short visit to Burot. I told my girlfriend to prepare her stuff as we are going to hit it-I forgot to tell her that we're going to the beach,as a result, she didn't bring extra clothes and pants. Hahaha!
Saturday. It was 4 in the afternoon, I was standing near the MRT entrance of Farmer's mall in Cubao waiting for my girlfriend-she's coming from work. She arrived at around 5pm. We then immediately took the MRT to Taft. You have two options going to Calatagan-whether by bus or by van. Bus to Calatagan are located at the back of Sogo. Based on what I heard, fare is about Php180 and the last trip is at 5pm. We knew we won't come on time for the last trip so we decided to travel by van. Upon arriving at MRT Taft station, we searched for the van terminal. It is located at Zamora St(between Metropoint Mall and Kabayan Hotel). The dispatcher told us that the last trip would be at 9pm,so we decided to eat first and buy food for our stay at the beach. We went back to the terminal before 7 and waited for the van. At 7:30,we finally hit the road. Travel time took more than 3 hours.
We reached Calatagan Public Market at around 10:30. Most of the stalls were already closed except for Choleng's Restaurant. There were no tricycles in the area that time. Good thing I got the number of Mang Ramon(09156028907) from the net. He is the caretaker of the beach. We asked him to fetch us from the market. The road to the beach is quite rough. The only light you can see aside from the motorcycle is the moonlight. It took us almost 15 minutes to reach the beach. Upon reaching the beach, we paid for the tent we reserved(Php400,up to 4pax),the fare(Php200,you can and entrance fee(Php130 for overnight,65 for day). We picked a spot and brought us our tent. Unfortunately,at around 1 am,the wind began to blow stronger then all of a sudden,it started to rain. We have no choice but to "face the struggles" for more or less an hour. Haha. It was almost 3 am when the wind began to be calm and the rain stopped. It left us with our stuff and food wet. Ahaha.
Morning came and everything was fine. Time to relax and feel the relaxing ambiance of the beach. I'm not a fan of swimming in the beach but i find it relaxing and fun by just walking on the shores, stay under a tree and watch the see-a total opposite to what my girlfriend did. She loves the sea,the beach the sand. She swam all she want. Haha. She enjoyed the water so much.
The beach is beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. Perfect for those who wants to just sit, relax and stay away from the busy, exhausting life in the city. The sand is fine and somewhat like cream to dirty white in color. Water is not as clear as in Palawan or others. Unfortunately, dirt is almost everywhere. Some visitors leave their trash. There are bathrooms in the place but don't expect much. Their staff are very accommodating and kind.
We prepared to leave before lunch. As a whole, the Burot beach adventure has been great. Not the best place/beach we've been through but still a place to visit. I'm expecting that the management of Burot would do something to improve it. :)
